Spring Must-Have: The Lightweight Convertible Jacket

As somewhat of a bargain shopper (okay, so I splurge, but who doesn't appreciate a killer deal?), I'm a total sucker for quality pieces that also happen to be convertible. I mean, what's not to love about a style staple that's actually three or more versatile pieces in one, especially when it means you can transform them to suit the season at hand? Of course, in their attempt to be cool and convertible, many transformative pieces like boots, jackets, skirts, etc. get a little too gimmicky and don't actually look that great in all their forms (you know, awkwardly exposed zippers, strange proportions, detaching sleeves that won't stay put, etc). Luckily, the Bird by Juicy Couture Sascha Jacket is one of those rare convertible pieces that truly looks cool from any angle, and doesn't skimp on function or fashion. It's got a cool utilitarian feel -- a great spring adaptation of fall's military look -- yet with its drawstring waist you can opt to cinch it in to make it a bit more feminine and figure-defining. A detachable hood's got you covered for those unexpected April showers, and its adjustable and removable sleeves provide whatever coverage you need, whether you're looking for just a little something warmer to throw on over a tee, or want full sleeves to beat the chilly spring breeze. At $398, it's not exactly a recession-chic buy, but considering you're getting 3 jackets in one, it's quite the year-round investment!
